About Privet

Scams warning

Scammers target people who need funding quickly. Knowing how Privet works makes it easier to spot someone pretending to be us or a lender.

How Privet will contact you

  • Only by email from an address ending in privet.com.au, or by phone if you asked us to call.
  • Only about an enquiry you sent us.

What Privet will never do

  • Ask you to pay a fee to send an enquiry or to "release" a loan.
  • Ask for your passwords, one-time codes, tax file number or bank login.
  • Ask you to move money to a new account or to buy gift cards or cryptocurrency.
  • Offer you an investment, or pass your details to anyone seeking investors.
  • Promise that a loan will be offered.

Warning signs from anyone

  • An upfront fee before any loan documents are issued.
  • Pressure to act today, or a "too good to be true" offer.
  • A lender or broker you cannot find on the official ASIC registers.
  • Contact details that do not match the business's official website.
  • Requests to keep the arrangement secret from your lawyer or accountant.

Check who you are dealing with

Search the business and any credit licence number it gives you on the ASIC professional registers. Our lesson on checking a lender's licence explains how. Always get independent legal advice before signing loan documents.
